What is Rope Access?

Rope access system is a form of safe work method when working at height, initially was used for climbing, where it has been developed and applied practically to allow technicians to access difficult to reach areas or work in confined space without the assistance of access work platforms, cradles or scaffold towers. Rope technicians use their ropes to ascend, descend and transverse ropes for accessing work while suspended in mid-air by their harness.

Is it Safe?

It may seem a dangerous and terrifying approach but astonishing rope access has been around for a long time. It is the most safe, fast and efficient approach to access buildings and infrastructures. We currently are maintaining 100% track records when working at height. We aim to reduce and follow our industrial guideline ensuring our customers, technicians and public are not put at any Health and Safety risk. Our Industrial is extremely strict, with equipment used are being tested rigorously supporting engineering principal beyond exposure to failure.

We spend time in our initial site visits carrying out risk assessment and taking many photographs to study ensuring it is safe to work. This will be followed by our professional trained technicians undertaking dynamic Risk assessments prior to start of every work detailing and reporting to customers if there is a potential hazard that may occur following Health and Safety Act 1974.

Does it comply with industrial standard?

Yes, we follow strict guideline to IRATA (International Rope Access Trade Association) who is regarded as the govern body for rope access industry, reported in their annual analysis of health and safety at work across the world. People who work in this industry undergo highly trained levels of abseiling qualifications, with major job as part of their requirement and sufficient experience in abseiling (climbing, using ropes).

What type of work do you do?

Generally speaking Industrial rope access can be utilised offshore oil, gas industry as well as a range of projects in construction, civil engineering, the built and much more.

We carry out works in the following area;

  •  Structure and Building Inspection (General, Principal Inspection)
  •  Surveys,
  •  Eye bolt testing and installation,
  •  Cabling,
  •  Plumbing,
  •  Drainage guttering,
  •  Fascia replacement,
  •  Signage installation,
  •  Jet / power wash to remove and clear unwanted staining to buildings,
  •  Window Cleaning
  •  Bird proofing,
  •  Graffiti removal,
  •  Painting

We work with you on the projects and combining knowledge with experience to develop a solution allocating our specialist dedicated teams of IRATA technicians to deliver results safely and minimal environmental impact.

What are the Benefits?

The benefits with using rope access method compared with installing scaffolding are indicated below;

  • The cost of the project can be reduced potentially saving up to 50% of the total cost for access.
  • No hire costs (scaffold) for the duration of work when work are redundant due to programming or risk of adverse weather.
  • No additional cost for the access platform AND employ tradesmen to carry out the work. JKSkyline teams of skilled technicians will carry out the work without the assistant of scaffold.

Time Management

  • Efficient to undertake work within short period of time for setup and ready for work.
  • The time it needs for a scaffold tower to be installed, our rope access technicians would have completed the job.

Others

  • Jkskyline have IRATA technician based in London which can be deployed to rig and descend to tall difficult to reach structures with minimal disruption.
  • No closure is required as works are undertaken in areas which involve high level access.

Where do you use this Rope Access application?

Rope Access can be employ in difficult to reach places such as the likely event of the building, properties that are adjacent to a railway tracks or underground tracks. It also can be used in tall / high buildings, structures, complex structures, feature element, rooftop of skyline and many more.

How quick is it compare with other applications?

Generally Rope Access is more efficient and reliable approach to complete the job when compared with scaffold towers and other method to conduct the work. The table below is an example of comparison of employing Rope Access VS other Approach to conduct work;

To paint a 4 storage building with two teams of abseilers

  • Rope Access = 20 hrs to complete the work.
  • Scaffolding including setup and work = 160 hours

See our time management for graphical diagram to the comparison between conventional method of exploring height to conduct work

The cost of the project can be reduced potentially saving up to 50% of the total cost for installing scaffold tower and the hire cost on the numerous of days to complete the work.
